KITT is the short name of two fictional characters from the adventure TV series Knight Rider . Despite having the same acronym, KITTs are two different entities: known as Knight Industries Two Thousand , which appear in the original TV series Knight Rider , and others as Three Thousand Industrial Knights , who appeared first in a two-hour pilot 2008 for the new Knight Rider TV series and then the new series itself. In both cases, KITT is an intelligent artificial electronic computer module in a highly advanced and highly mobile robot body body: the original KITT as Pontiac Firebird 1982, and the second KITT as the 2008/2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR. KITT is voiced by William Daniels in the original series, and by Val Kilmer in the 2008 series.

The sequel 1991 Knight Rider 2000 saw the original KITT microprocessor unit transferred into the vehicle body intended to be his successor, Knight Industries Four Thousand (Knight 4000), voiced by Carmen Argenziano and William Daniels.

Knight Industries Dua Ribu (KITT)

The KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) character in the original series Knight Rider was physically manifested as a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am modification.

In the history of the television show, the first Knight Industries Two Thousand (William Daniels) was designed by the late Wilton Knight, a brilliant and eccentric billionaire and founder of the Law and Governance Foundation (FLAG) and its parent Knight Industries. The 2008 pilot film then implies that Charles Graiman, creator of Knight Industries Three Thousand, also has a hand in designing the first KITT.

According to the series, KITT's main cybernetic processor was first installed on a mainframe computer used by the US government in Washington, DC However, Wilton saw better use for "him" in the crusade against Foundation crime and eventually the system was installed in the vehicle. KITT is actually the second vehicle built by Knight Industries with artificial intelligence. Its predecessor is KARR, Knight Automated Roving Robot . KARR is programmed for self-preservation, but this proves to be harmful to the humanitarian interests of the Foundation. KARR is then disabled and placed in the warehouse while KITT is given to its new operator, Michael Knight. KARR was subsequently unknowingly reactivated by the thief in the original episode of "Trust Does not Rust", was considered destroyed, then reappeared in the episode "K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R" and was seen finally destroyed by Michael and KITT.

While the 2008 pilot film and then the new series seem to be a change from the original series, it offers some continuity from the original TV series "Knight Rider". The 'new' or 'second' kits (The Three Thousand Knight Industry) are different units of vehicles and microprocessors. The Two Thousand Knights The original industry is also featured in a pilot film (albeit in pieces) in scenes where Charles Graiman's garage (the creator of the Third-Quarter Knight Industry and implied original KITT co-designer) is sought by antagonists. Trans-Am body (no cover) partially covered by a tarp, which puts the rear spoiler. The famous KITT steering wheel (labeled "Knight Two Thousand") and "KNIGHT" plate are also shown, along with many black body parts of the car. When the camera shows a full view of the garage, there are three cars in the garage: 3000, 2000 under the tarp, and 2000 complete.

The 1991 Knight Rider 2000 film saw the first KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) in pieces, and Michael Knight himself revived the microprocessor unit, which was eventually transferred to the body of the vehicle intended to be the original direct successor of KITT, the Knight 4000. The new vehicle is the modified Dodge Stealth 1991, which looks similar to the Pontiac Banshee prototype. However, there is no reference to this storyline or the appearance of Knight 4000 made in a new series or a 2008 model film. In Knight Rider 2000, it is stated that most parts of Knight 2000 have been sold. However, Graiman's garage at the 2008 pilot shows a more complete collection of sections than in the box found by Michael Knight in the 1991 movie Knight Rider 2000. This adds to the mystique of the original KITT's current existence within the time frame of the new series.

In the 1997-1998 spin-off series Team Knight Rider , KITT was hired as a shadow adviser. Then it was revealed that "The Shadow" is actually a hologram run by KITT. In "Knight of the Living Dead", Graiman declares a third KITT, there in reserve. When KITT will die soon, its memory is downloaded so that the third KITT can use it. But ultimately the third AI is not used.

Features

The front-mounted scanner bar which, for example, allows the KITT to look at is a nod to Cylons, the villain of the TV series Battlestar Galactica , which was created by Glen A. Larson, who also created the Knight Rider .

Various versions of KITT toys have been released. Among the most famous Knight Rider memorabilia include remote control KITT, Knight Rider lunch boxes, and deluxe KITT versions. The KITT deluxe model, sold by Kenner Toys and nicknamed "Knight 2000 Voice Car", speaks electronically (the real voice of William Daniels), features a detailed interior and action figure of Michael Knight. ERTL released KITT die-cast toys in three different sizes - miniature-sized models common, medium-sized models, and large models. These toys feature a red reflective hologram on the nose to represent the scanner. Also at the end of 2004, die-cast models of 1/18 KITT and KARR scale were manufactured from ERTL complete with detailed interior and light moving scanners as in series. In September 2006, Hitari, a UK-based company that produces remote controlled toy cars, released the remote controller Knight Rider KITT on a 1/15 scale complete with red scanner lights that worked, KITT sound from TV shows and car turbine engine sounds with sound effects "cylon" scanner. In December 2012, Diamond Select Toys released a 1/15 scale electronic talks KITT featuring dashboards, scanners, fog lamps and bright tail lights along with KITT's original voice, William Daniels, all at the push of a button.

A more serious joint venture is GPS Knight Rider. Again showing the sound of the icon from William Daniels, the item is a fully functional GPS using Mio.s navigation technology GPS displays a specially recorded sound so that the unit can "speak to" the owner using their own name if it is the one on the list of registered names.

Three Thousand Industrial Knights (KITT)

The 2008 update to Knight Rider includes the new KITTÃ, an acronym now standing for Knight Industries Three Thousand. The KITT platform is patterned on the Shelby GT500KR and differs from the original Two Thousand units in several ways. For example, KITT 2008 uses nanotechnology, enabling the car's outer skin to change color and transform itself into a similar form temporarily. The nanotech platform is written as requiring active AI to produce one of these effects, unlike the original car gadgets and "molecular bonded shell" that allows it to endure extreme effects. The down-side of the use of nanotech has been shown when criminals can cause significant damage, such as shooting out a window, when AI is disabled. It can also be transformed into two types of Ford F-150 4x4 trucks (one complete and the other with some modifications), Ford E-150 van, Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, special edition Warriors In Pink Mustang (in support of breast cancer awareness month ), and Ford Flex to disguise or use alternative mode capabilities (such as off-road handling). The car can use "Attack Mode", featuring conventional scissor/door hybrid doors, allowing it to increase speed and use most gadgets (including turbo boost). It has a different looking attack mode on a pilot that is used whenever a car is needed to increase speed. The downside is that it's only two seats. KITT is also able to function submerged, maintain life support and system integrity while under water.

KARR (Peter Cullen, then Paul Frees) is the original prototype of the first KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) but to reflect the pattern of the original series, the enemies and prototypes of the second KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) are also designated as KARRs in the new series. KARR appears to be a new character like Knight 3000, and the acronym is now Knight Auto-Cybernetic Roving Robotic-Exoskeleton .

KARR's visual identity also has a similar change for the new series. KARR was originally designed for military combat. KARR has the ability to change from vehicle mode to a large wheeled robotic exoskeleton rather than KITTs "Attack Mode". KARR vehicle mode is 2008-2009 Shelby GT500KR with license plate K.R. KARR is once again voiced by Peter Cullen, who also voiced KARR's first performance on "Trust Does not Rust". The sequence of transformations is very similar to the 2007 "Transformers" film. Armed with twin machine guns on every shoulder and missile, the exoskeleton combines with humans for easier control. After a brief fight, KITT uses a hook to tear KARR's chest plate, freeing one of Michael's coworkers, Alex Torres. Michael cramming the KITT through KARR's body using Turbo Boost, apparently destroying KARR. It is unclear whether KARR has the same nano repair function as KITT, or if A.I. unit survived. KARR is once again similar to KITT also 2008-2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR and again 100% all Black like KITT the only difference is Yellow Scan Light Bar in its original series more Amber/Yellow and KARR's Voice Module originally Yellow/Green is now 100 % Yellow. A 1991 sequel film Knight Rider 2000 saw the original KITT microprocessor unit transferred into the body of a vehicle intended to be its successor, Knight 4000. This vehicle has a lot of 21st century technological advancements during the previous 1980s version. KITTs, such as advanced amphibious modes (which allow cars to ride to the water like a speedboat), virtual reality head-up display (or VR-HUD, which utilizes the entire windshield as a video display), and microwave stun devices that can cripple long distances human target. However, no recognition was made for this spinoff in the 2008 series.

Features

Knight 4000 has most of KITT's original features, including some new and improved systems

Virtual Reality Head-up Display
Instead of the dash-fitted CRT display, the Knight 4000 uses a virtual reality head-up display that uses the entire windshield as a video monitor.
Thermal ExpanderÃ,
Knight 4000 is equipped with an offensive weapon consisting of a microwave projector that causes the temperature of the targeted object to rapidly rise and either light up or explode.
Long Distance Goal
This allows the pilot and shoot objectives with complete and perfect accuracy through the help of Knight 4000.
Amphibian Mode
The Knight 4000 can float and maneuver in water like a boat. The system is really a major improvement over the original capacity of the original KITT aircraft that during the original series was susceptible to malfunctions during the experimental phase.
Microwave StunnerÃ,
Similar to the "non-lethal" weapons used by police, the Knight 4000 comes with a microwave stunner that can paralyze criminals.
Activated Voice Control
The Knight 4000 dashboard is "looking messy" than the original KITT dashboard with most of the controls now actually being sound activated rather than having to press a button.
Fax Machine
Knight 4000 can print fax messages from dummy-mounted printers.
Infrared Scanner
The Infrared Scanner is a device that can be used by Knight 4000 to scan at the Infrared level, which will identify the laser scope rifles as well as the heat-exposed objects.
Aroma Monitor
This system is similar to Olfactory Knight 2000 Scanning, but is much more complex.
Voice SamplerÃ,
Similar to the Anharmonic Knight 2000 Synthesis, this device can simulate any sound that has been recorded into Knight 4000 memory.
Thermal Sensors
This system allows the Knight 4000 to watch and record what happens in certain places, such as in a vehicle.
