Paganin House is a residence in Floreat, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, built in 1965. It is one of the most famous buildings designed by Bulgarian-born architect Iwan Iwanoff and is an iconic example of medieval modern architecture in Australia. By December 2015, it was damaged significantly by fire.

Landmark design and status

The Paganin family sells wood and marble, which encourages the widespread use of both materials throughout the home by Iwan Iwanoff, including the leading marble front porch. This four-bedroom house has a practical and open layout, and according to president of the Australian Institute of Australian Architects, Phil Griffiths, is "very expressive, very creative, and very brilliant". Construction completed in 1965.

The house was recommended for inclusion in the State Heritage List in 2006 (place number 17607). The original feature of the property is maintained and restored, and it was sold at auction by the second owner for $ 2.2 million in April 2013.

Paganin House featured in Chill Bill television commercials for Brownes Dairy, and a music video for Little Birdy. The scene for the Thunderstruck movie was also shot at home.

Flame damage

Late in the afternoon on December 21, 2015, the traffic police officer stopped outside to see the house burning. It takes two hours for the Fire Service and Emergency Services to withstand the blaze. The owner is abroad and the fire is not suspicious. Arson researchers from the Western Australian Police found that it was an "uncertain fire". They can not ascertain the source because of the open plan layout and widespread use of wood in construction and decoration.

By 2015, the house was described by WA Geoff Warn State Architects as "an excellent balance of European elegance and the famous Open Plan Case Study House in and around Los Angeles". Warn says Iwanoff is "like our local GaudÃ" "and" the loss of this house is the loss of local treasures ". Real estate valuation agency Robbie Milligan states, "After checking the property, the value of replacement at home will be definitely in the millions and almost impossible to count because of its iconic status... This is really a landmark when people drive past The Boulevard."
