Geography
The city is located about half a mile south of Interstate 74 at Exit 143. (State Highway 46 runs parallel to the city on the north side.) Utilities include city water and municipal sewage. Currently no natural gas is being flowed into the city. The closest connection is 5.5 miles east on State Highway 46.

According to the 2010 census, New Point has a total area of ââ0.22 square miles (0.57 km 2 ), all ground.
The city is geographically divided by active trains that lead east to Cincinnati, Ohio and west to Indianapolis, Indiana. Tub Creek, a small stream, originates just north of New Point and stretches from north to south.
Demographics
This community has a small post office, community center, park, and volunteer fires. There is a small restaurant (Midtown Diner), department store, and truck stop. There is usually one police officer employed by the city. New Point also has several local businesses: a trucking company: Billman Trucking Inc., small factories such as Wood-Mizer Products, Incorporated, Raver Ready-Mix Concrete, concrete sculpture business (Snyder Concrete Statue) and other small businesses. Surrounded by family farms and agricultural land and agricultural companies. Also, the local golf course (Northern Branch) and the productive stone mine (New Point Stone, Co) are located about 1-2 miles north/northwest of the city.
There are two churches: the New Point Christian Church and The New Point Baptist Church.
The city is governed by the selected office boards.

At the 2010 census, there were 331 people, 124 households, and 84 families living in the city. Population density is 1.504.5 inhabitants per square mile (580.9/km 2 ). There are 139 housing units with an average density of 631.8 per square mile (243.9/km 2 ). City's racial makeup is 99.4% White, 0.3% Asian, and 0.3% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin from any race is 0.6% of the population.
There are 124 households that 39.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.4% are married couples living together, 12.9% have no husband-wife households, 6.5% have a man householders without wife's presence, and 32.3% are non-family members. 23.4% of all households are individuals and 11.3% have a self-sufficient 65 or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 3.18.
The average age in the city is 36.6 years. 28.1% of the population is under 18 years of age; 5.8% between the ages of 18 and 24; 26% are from 25 to 44; 25.1% is from 45 to 64; and 15.1% are 65 years old or older. City gender makeup is 51.4% male and 48.6% female.

At the 2000 census, there were 290 people, 106 households, and 82 families living in the city. Population density was 1,061.8 people per square mile (414.7/km ò). There are 116 housing units with an average density of 424.7 per square mile (165.9/km²). City's racial makeup is 98.62% White, 0.34% African American, 0.34% Asian, 0.34% of other races, and 0.34% of two or more races. Hispanic or Latin of any race is 0.34% of the population.
There are 106 households where 38.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% are married couples living together, 10.4% have unmarried female households, and 21.7% are not family. 17.0% of all households consist of individuals and 7.5% have someone living alone 65 or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.04.
In cities, the population is spread by 27.2% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 33.1% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% years or more. The mean age is 36 years. For every 100 women, there are 116.4 men. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 102.9 men.
The average income for households in the city is $ 39,583, and the average income for families is $ 40,694. Men have an average income of $ 31,607 compared to $ 28,750 for women. The per capita income for the city is $ 21,116. Approximately 6.6% of families and 7.3% of the population are below the poverty line, including 12.0% of those under the age of eighteen and 5.3% of those aged sixty-five years or older.
Miscellany
The community has an annual festival called Crackaway Daze held on the third full weekend of September. There is also an annual Volunteer Fire Service held at the firestation to raise money for funding for the fire department, including food, games, tank dunk, and sweepstakes.
There used to be a school where the park is currently located. The school is no longer in use after the consolidation of community schools into larger state schools (North and South Decatur Schools). The park is now used for the Daze Crackaway festival, local events, and small leagues.
New Point, like other parts of Decatur County, has seen much of the economic development in recent years. Many small businesses and housing developments have emerged, changing the cultural landscape of small villages. The recently added mobile home park has increased the population, but has also led to the entry of new residents. The city authorities appear to be quite active, but also cause controversy among New Point residents.
Just across Highway 46, there is a convenience store called Day and Night. This store used to belong locally, but has since been under new ownership, which has since become a BP franchise.
A motel is also open next to the hotel from BP named Motel 46.
In the north there is a truck stop. The truck stop is owned by G & amp; Oil company G from Muncie, Indiana, which makes it part of the "Petro" franchise. The truck stop has a reputation as a mother stop truck. The truck stop was under the management of Robert and LaVonne "Bonnie" Morton, from New Point, for a long time, thus naming Bob's Truck Stop. Bob is responsible for trucking aspects; service, management, and towing. Bonnie manages the restaurant and its many employees over the years. Currently managed by Gary Copeland, who is also active on radio and local business. The truck stop has a travel shop, restaurant, bath and laundry facilities, and a small arcade. There is also a service center for commercial trucks.
